The initial inspiration for this print came from an old image of a small corner bookshop in ruin ofter a fire. It resonated with me, as small independent bookshops are among my favorite places to visit and support. We quickly decided that just showing such a building on fire and getting into the details of the destruction would not be enough for a print. George (of Hook & Irons) quickly decided that if we portrayed that the surrounding buildings were still intact, the image would give a sense of hope and something worth fighting for.
